Things I learned from my dog

I awoke early this morning, and had the pleasure of taking the
dog for a walk.  I’m not sure about you, but I am definitely a
dog lover.

One of the main reasons I’m a dog lover, is because of the things
they have taught me.

Top 3 things I’ve learned from my dog:

1. It pays to be Persistent
2. Nose to the ground
3. Be a good friend

I think its important that we all learn these things and apply
them in our lives. After all, who doesn’t love a dog who is wagging his tail and “smiling” at you?

And here’s why I think each of these are important:

Persistence pays off because it means you aren’t a quitter.  You
keep going, even when the going gets tough.  Have you ever seen a
3 legged dog, who has survived a car wreck?  They just keep going
and going, even though we all know it would be easier with their
fourth leg.

Nose to the ground is FOCUS.  Like a bloodhound, zigging and
zagging to the  source of the smell, we can zig and zag towards
our goals.  But to get what we want out of life, we have to stay
focused – or else we’re just chasing our tail.

Be a good friend.  Well I shouldn’t have to explain this one!
But seriously, if you aren’t a good friend, in business or in
pleasure, what is the point?  You have give first to receive
later.

This is the biggest lesson of all that I’ve learned
from my dog.

When he showed up, I wasn’t even sure if I liked dogs.  But he
wagged his tail, and was a good friend first.  Now I’m his friend
too.
