The King Is Dead (Again)
January 17th, 2012. Filed Under: Direct Response, Online Marketing. Tags: email marketing, what works
A few years ago I went to a high powered marketing seminar,
where we talked in depth about “the king”.
When you mastered the art of performing the exercise of
“the king” you were able to simply write a few lines,
tell a few jokes, and then rake in money almost at the
push of a button.
Then things changed. “The king” died. Or so it seemed.
If you haven’t realized it, “the king” is email marketing.
Deliverability rates of email went down. Spam filters
went up. The world became busier and noisier. Social media
competed for attention.
And now many folks, each year in and out, proclaim that
“email marketing is dead”. Maybe you’ve believed this too.
Allow me let you in on something…
Yesterday I had a long productive talk with a friend of mine
who specializes in creating email marketing campaigns for
everyone from busy CEOs to small businesses.
And during our conversation, we were laughing about all the
people who claim each and every year that “the king is dead”.
Because neither of our experience, or that of our customers
shows that to be true.
At one point in our conversation I became really animated
and excited jumping up and down because while she was
making some points about email marketing, it was as if she
had been reading straight from page 41 of 21 Ways To Create
A Sales Stampede On The Internet.
Without knowing it, she had stumbled upon what I call
“the most important secret to your long term success” and
it had me really excited.
I told her that I consider myself to be an “evangelical
entrepreneur” and that I get really revved up when I hear
people using strategies that are known to work, and then
hear of their success with them.
It’s exciting to hear these success stories in contrast
to what you hear in the so-called media.
Today I invite you to join us and discover the most
important secret to your long term success.
Spend a few minutes watching this video I’ve created for
you:

The king is not dead. The king is alive and well.
And when you take action and put these strategies into
place, you’ll be the beneficiary of knowing what really
works and what is simply noise.

Once you cut through the noise you just have to know how
to put the pieces together. Let me show you how I

The “Cute Crawler” Marketing Secret
August 3rd, 2011. Filed Under: Internet Business Tips, Online Marketing. Tags: big announcement, Internet Marketing, Marketing, marketing secrets
Woke up this morning a little sore after doing a long run yesterday, and was surprised to look over to see that Melinda was placing Molly, our “almost” 9 month year old to sit next to me.
She’s developing quickly and is at the phase where she is going to crawl just about any minute now.
We’ve been anticipating it of course, seeing the changes taking place week in and week out.
What surprised me this morning though was that Sears Picture studio was anticipating it as well.
In the mail yesterday we received a postcard that says “Cute Crawler – 9 months” and has pictures of other babies that look just like her, except they are crawling.
Sears Picture studio really knows what they’re doing here, and it’s a good thing to look at it and apply in your own marketing as well.
You can discover the “cute crawler” marketing secrets by read the rest of the story here:
Here are the “Cute crawler” marketing secrets:
First, they are sending the perfect message at the right time. They know that it’s just about time to get those crawling pictures, and their mailing campaign is positioned perfectly to get in front of the parents of the 9 month year olds.
Second, they are sending to an already happy customer. It’s much easier to get repeat business than to have to prove yourself again and again.
Third, they are sending the right media type in their advertising – a postcard with other cute babies on it. Not only are they showing proof of their product by showing other cute babies…they’re combining it with the right message.
Apply these “cute crawler” marketing secrets to your business, and let me know how you’re enjoying the increase in sales.

I’ve had a lot of people writing in asking what the perfect wave

wave.
In business, it’s just like surfing…it’s the moment you find the
perfect trend for you and you jump on it at the right time and
make a killing.

Three Ways To Increase Your Income Today

Yesterday morning I woke up super early and headed to the
airport, hopped on a United flight across the country, and
landed safely. The entire flight was a blur because I was,
well…asleep.
Before nodding off for the 3 hours of air time, the new United
Airlines CEO was on the small television screens on this
airplane, talking about all the great things that he’s doing to
combine Continental and United. As he was talking though, I was
thinking to myself “this guy seems like a sleazeball”.
Not really sure where this gut reaction came from, but it was
there. And I picked up Hemispheres magazine, the inflight mag
on the plane, and there was the new CEO again, staring back at
me and trying to win my business. Again, the gut reaction of
“wow, this dude is scary”.
The funny thing was that as I was thinking it, the lady in a row
behind me blurts out, “Man, that guy is creepy.”
Houston – we’ve got a problem here.
It’s interesting to see how as these two companies combine,
they’ve decided to keep the name United but go with the logo and
feel of Continental. I’m not sure that it’s going to work for
these guys, especially as long as they keep putting their creepy
used car salesman CEO out in the front.
United could use a quick reminder of the three ways to make more
money. Reason is, each of these relies on keeping your current
customers happy and building more trust. You scare people away
as soon as they get on the plane…well, more business for
Southwest Airlines.
Remember, there are only three ways to make more money:
1. Charge higher prices…
2. Get more customers…
3. Or get your customers to spend more money with you each time
they buy.
Each of these depends on you providing more value, gaining more
trust, and marketing to more people. Automated marketing,
instant upsells, and pushing more traffic to your offer – all of
these things can serve you as you implement one or all of these
strategies.
However, none of them work unless you’re a trusted source of
information, and providing real value. That’s the key.
Members of my top secret Internet Sales Success program have
been thriving with these strategies for months now, thriving
while those around them are hurting.

Google Updates: You Ask, I Answer
March 17th, 2011. Filed Under: Online Marketing, Search Engine Optimization. Tags: Cold War, High Quality, Unique Content, Valuable Content
There’s still a TON of talk going on out there about the recent
Google “Farmer/Panda” update and changes.
This is turning into a huge shake up in the search engine rankings,
and the entire SEO industry is working day and night to change
tactics and find out what works. Some people have seen their
rankings drop to the bottom, and others have skyrocketed to the
top.
If you were relying only on Ezine articles to drive traffic to
your site, for instance, you’re hurting right now. Like I said
the other day, it’s just like the Cold War.
Google changes, now the marketers are racing to catch up.
One of my readers is in exactly this boat.
Charles wrote in the other day and asked:
“Saw your most recent mail, really good. I wanted to get your
thoughts on the most recent google farmers update. Does this
mean article marketing is dead ?
Regards,
Charles”
My answer:
Thank you for writing, Charles.
Article marketing is not dead…but it certainly appears to be
on life support. The old game of writing 5 good articles,
submitting them to a couple of article directories, and then
watching the traffic roll in is gone.
We’re going to see some article directories drastically increase
their requirements and editorial review process, to ensure that
they are providing only Unique, High Quality, Valuable Content.
With the recent update, you’re going to want to do a few things
differently.
Here are two things you can do immediately to rank highly. First,
the update has turned the focus back onto your own website – and
how important it is to hold High Quality, Unique Content.
For years I’ve been recommending that you blog, blog, blog on
your website. The more you’re putting great content out there
for people to get value out of, the better off you’re going to be.
When you add a blog to your website and set it up properly, you’ll
be getting visits within minutes of rollout. See how it worked
for Steve, and how it can work for you:
http://wallythewebguy.com/success-stories/pawnonomics.html
Next, you absolutely want to make sure that your current website
is structured so that the search engines will look at them and rank
them for the keywords you are targeting. You’ll see improvements
almost over night:
http://tinyurl.com/searchfriendly
There are a ton more changes coming and staying on top of them
is so important that your survival depends on it.
In the next few weeks I’ll be covering them as well as introducing
you to more ways you can empower yourself and create the valuable
content that Google is looking for. You’ll rank higher and you’ll
make more sales with less effort than ever before.
Until next time,
-Wally
P.S. — A few years ago Google’s focus was all about on page
search engine optimization. Then it moved to off page. Now
they’re focusing again on page and moving into a new phase.

It’s all about the traffic flow
March 2nd, 2010. Filed Under: Business, Online Marketing, Traffic Driving. Tags: Business, Wally
This time of year I really start thinking about traffic.
It’s ski season, which means that I spend a lot of time sitting in a car between my house and the ski slopes.
Some days, you just cruise along and the road conditions are dry and everybody is cruising along with no problems.
Other days the spring snow begins dumping on the road and you get caught in bumper to bumper, sliding everywhere and hoping that the guy with bald tires doesn’t drive too fast and crash into somebody.
In Colorado, they’re talking about taking a special barrier that would sit in the middle of the highway, and move to the left or right – creating a lane for the part of the highway that was busiest. So in the mornings, it would move to create a westbound lane. In the afternoon, the barrier would move and create an eastbound lane.
Traffic is really important, because it’s how we get from one place to another.
And it works exactly the same on the web.
People are trying to get from one place to another all the time, 24/7, on the web. They’re searching, they’re talking with their friends on Facebook, they’re emailing, and they are listening to podcasts.
And a million other things.
One thing is for certain: If you’re not inserting yourself into the traffic flow, you’re missing out BIG TIME.
I don’t want you to miss out on the traffic you deserve.
For a long time, customers have been asking me to create a single resource that they can refer to, to make sense of all the places on the internet where you can get traffic. It’s finally here.
Download Here: 18 Proven Ways To Get More Website Traffic
You asked, I delivered. I’ve created this special resource that you can print out, and refer to as you work to create content and increase your website
traffic. Or just as an idea generator.
Or even as a start to a strategic plan to double your sales this year.
And I’m giving it to you for no cost at all.
Traffic equals leads, and leads equals sales.
And that goes for an internet only business, or a local mom and pop shop.
I’ll be covering more on this in the near future.

It’s time to harvest some tomatoes
October 1st, 2009. Filed Under: Business, Online Marketing. Tags: Business, Fort Collins, People, Wally
It’s been a couple weeks since I wrote, sorry to be out of touch.
A lot of great things happened in the last couple weeks, which I want to share with you.
One happened just this morning.
Woke up to an overcast day, and a bit of a chill to the air.
First day of October, and it’s definitely autumn in Fort Collins. Rumor has it that tonight there’s going to be a freeze, which will be the first time since May.
So I walked around the side of the house to check on the tomato garden. Green, red, and orange – there were a lot of those beauties. And it is time to harvest.
Instead of hopping straight on the computer like I normally do, I took a giant silver bowl outside and started filling it up with large, red, ripe tomatoes. And it felt really good.
Brought them inside, and it was tomatoes for breakfast. It will be tomatoes for lunch and dinner too, for a couple of days. Lots of bounty.
That’s the thing about harvest season. You work and work for a long time, and you seem to be making it nowhere. You plant, and you water, and you wait. Sometimes you weed, or sometimes you watch the weeds grow. Sometimes you don’t even get anything out of your garden.
With a little patience though, the right sun, water, and the right knowledge – look out. The bounty can be so great that you need help to harvest and enjoy all of it. And it turns into a huge celebration.
Working on your online business can be the same way. You work and work on your message, your website, and getting people to keep coming back for more. Sometimes it feels like you’re getting nowhere and that you should give up.
But if you give up, you are guaranteed to get nothing. If you keep churning, and working on your business though, and never give up – there’s no way you can lose.
Eventually, you’ll have a harvest so great that you need help to enjoy all of it.
It all starts with the right knowledge. With the right knowledge, you can plant the seeds to grow your business the way that you want it to be, and set yourself up for a bounty.
There are two ways to quickly expand your knowledge that I’ve discovered which are guaranteed to set you up for a great harvest.
One easy way to easily get the right knowledge is to listen to informative CDs in your car, or on your iPod. You can drive around and get the equivalent of a college degree each year, simply by listening to learning material.
Or maybe you go for a long walk and do your learning at the same time – now that’s efficiency.
Next thing you know, you’re pumped up, putting that knowledge into action, and setting yourself up for a bountiful harvest.
Another easy way to vastly expand your knowledge and speed up your time to harvest, is to ask a lot of questions to the right people. People who’ve been there, done that, and are interested in sharing.
There’s a lot of wisdom out there, I’ve found, if you just ask and then listen. And as the saying goes, “you reap what you sow”.
As we enter the last quarter of the year, enjoy this time of harvest. And be sure to continue planting seeds of knowledge in your own self and others. It’s always a good time to learn.
Until next time,
-Wally
P.S. – Learn while you walk with this CD.
P.P.S. – Take nearly 15 years of experience, a method that’s generated $90 million in sales and counting, and all you have to do is answer a few questions about your business to start.
Why Captain Kirk really needs Spock, and vice versa
May 19th, 2009. Filed Under: Business, Online Marketing. Tags: Business, Sigmund Freud, Star Trek, Star Wars
I finally saw the new Star Trek movie a couple nights ago, and
let me tell you it was great. As my friend Ed who saw it with
me said, “If I was a kid, and I saw this movie and Episode I of
Star Wars, I’d be a trekkie.”
Lots of action, and just enough cheese to make it a real Star
Trek flick.
Without giving away too much of the plot, the main thrust of the
movie is based around how the crew of the USS Enterprise becomes
the crew that we’re familiar with. And throughout the entire
story, there’s a common thread – in fact, a common thread
throughout the entire Star Trek world.
Logic vs. Emotion.
Spock of course is the epitome of logic. He’s half Vulcan, and
that’s all they know how to do – think logically. Captain Kirk
is like Sigmund Freud’s id on steroids. He’s a boozer, a
schmoozer, and loves the ladies.
Naturally these two men clash and argue, but it’s all for the
better of the mission.
There’s a similar tension out there on the web.
Emotionally, you have to connect with your audience in order for
them to like you, stay connected with you, and continue to
purchase from you. And most successful business owners
understand this – whether in cyberspace or the real world.
Logically, you have to make sure that the technology behind your
web presence is as fine tuned as a brand new warp drive.
That’s where a guy like me comes in.
I take the emotional connection that you’ve developed with your
audience, and build the machine that connects them to you. It’s
that simple.
The beauty of the web is that you can literally build new
streams of income from your existing business in a shorter time
than ever possible. In fact, it’s like putting your business on
warp speed.
There are a number of strategies and methods you can follow -
but it all comes down to how willing you are to make it happen.
Take the first step here:
http://www.wallythewebguy.com/contact.htm
Live long and prosper,
-Wally
P.S. – Did you know that NBC almost didn’t let Spock have pointy
ears? They thought he looked too satanic for nightly
television.
4 practical things you can do to improve your website
April 23rd, 2009. Filed Under: Internet Business Tips, Online Marketing, Sales Tips, Uncategorized. Tags: Driving Strategy, Matt Furey, Wally, Zen Master
Last night I was on a coaching call with the Zen Master of the
Internet, Matt Furey, and he said something powerful that
slapped me up side the head, and reminded me of something very,
very important. When the Zen master speaks, I listen. Today
I’d like you to do the same.
He reminded us that “Marketing is an endless parade. And, most
people don’t know about you.”
Now there’s something to think about. Because in business, we
spend a lot of time talking to others – giving them our
“elevator speech” and telling them what we do for people, and
just generally telling our story. Fishing for clients, for
customers, for sales.
But the truth is, that even if you network 24/7 – the majority
of the 6 billion plus people on the globe – and the portion of
them who want to buy from you – simply don’t know you exist.
Well, that is a problem! So there’s two things here – one, is
that you can never quit marketing. Even when you want to,
because you’ve already “told your story to everyone”. Two, is
that you’ve never told your story to everyone!
That is why the internet is so powerful. Only by connecting
yourself with enough other people, and serving them – can you
truly get whatever you want out of life. Sometimes you’ll find
these folks across town and sometimes across the globe, but they
need to know who you are, and what you do. And they need to
trust and like you.
The first step is to connect. And that’s where your website
comes in.
Today I wanted to share 4 practical things you can do to improve
your website, so that you can connect with as many people as
possible.
But before I do, a word of warning. Don’t just read these and
toss them aside. If you do that, it won’t matter. Think about
how you’d like to use the web to increase your own business -
and then take action. Without action, it’s all just talk. And
as my elementary school gym teacher used to say, “talk is cheap”.
4 Practical Things You Can Do to Improve Your Website
1. Add a blog
Seems like everyone has a blog these days. There’s a reason.
You can build trust and a worldwide following – people who rely
on YOU – simply by writing down your thoughts. You can double
the power of your email newsletter by adding it to your blog.
Instead of an email that might have sat in somebody’s inbox for
ages, it’s on the web being read and re-read. Find out more
here.
2. Get found by the search engines
If nobody knows you exist, you have problems. You need to ensure
your site is found and that your content is found. The easiest
way to do this is to begin by ensuring that the search engines
find you, and that when they do, they can find the stuff you put
on the web. Simple, but a HUGE first step. Details here.
3. Get more traffic to your website
A couple weeks ago I told you about the importance of numbers.
Here’s a simple math equation for the web:
More traffic = More sales.
It really is that simple. But unfortunately a lot of folks have
these great websites, but no traffic at all. That’s lame.
Here’s the quickest, easiest, (and for the next 72 hours…free)
way to remedy this:
http://www.wallythewebguy.com/services/traffic-driving-04-23-2009.html
Update: This offer is closed. Be sure to stay tuned for a new one soon.
4. Capture contact information
Capturing somebody’s information, and keeping them informed
about what you’re up to, and what you’re offering is the most
powerful thing you can do. I heard one guy call it “follow up
’till they’re dead”. Kinda funny, but it’s super important.
If you’re just beginning on the web, or you’ve been online for
years, it’s the same. You gotta figure out who is interested
in what you’re offering.
No matter where you are in the process, the biggest room of all
is the room for improvement. But to get results requires
action. Take action on one of these four steps, and if I can
help you get there quicker, be sure to get in touch.
