More Life Lessons You Won’t Get In Business School

Today I promised to reveal something amazing to you.

And I’m going to, in just a couple seconds.  First, you should know
that you could be in trouble.  Here’s why…

It’s a shocking statistic.  When I heard it, I almost fell out of
my seat.

Over 90% of businesses are going to be gone in the next five years.

That’s not something that I’m pulling out of a hat.  It’s
something that the SBA is talking about, and it has some business
owners worried.

You shouldn’t be though.

Even though times are tough for a lot of folks out there, there’s
another side to the coin that you have to take into consideration.

Right now, as you read this, your competition is waving the white
flag.  They are probably on the brink of giving up.  People are
tired and stressed out, and that makes them want to give in.

Not you though.  You’re with me because you believe in creating
your own opportunities and pushing through, and it all starts with
your mindset.

Having the right mindset creates the right action.  And the right
action creates the right results.

I’m excited for the next year, because when times get tough for
folks who are going to give up, the opportunities for people like
you and I just get even better.  It’s not always easy, but it’s
better than the alternative.

Here’s something exciting that’s coming up to make sure you’re not
just another statistic.

On November 15, for the first time, I’m holding a special training
webinar where I’ll show you how to grow your business using the
Internet, eliminate your competition, and thrive no matter what
the economy is doing.

These are the keys to you taking control and crushing it while
your competition is waving the white flag.

Here are the details:
http://wallythewebguy.com/training/

Make sure you grab your spot now before we run out of them and
it’s too late.

See you there,
-Wally

PS – One year ago I was working with a company who was frustrated,
in debt up to their eye balls, and ready to give up.  Now they are
making sales on auto pilot, there’s money in the bank, and they’re
back ordered.  Make sure to claim your spot on the training
webinar and I’ll show you exactly how I helped them, and how you
can achieve those types of results too:

Life Lessons You Won’t Get In Business School

November 7th, 2011. Filed Under: Internet Business Tips, Testimonials. Tags: ,

The other day I was sitting in the kitchen feeding our 11 month
year old daughter, and reflecting on the amazing amount of
learning that she’s been doing in such a short time.

Every day it seems like there’s something new.  The first time to
crawl, to stand up, to take a few steps.  Amazingly, she’s even
feeding herself much of the time once you put food down in front
of her.

Granted, she makes a giant mess and at least half of the food
she’s trying to put into her mouth completely misses the target
and ends up on her bib, in her hair, or all over her face – but
she’s getting there.

Really there’s too many firsts to list, yet it’s amazing all the
same.

Each of us was there once, learning something new.  There was a
time when doing something was really difficult and hard to do, yet
now it’s automatic for you.

Think of tying your shoes.  At one time, you may have had so much
frustration built up around this simple task that you cried out
asking for velcro.

Or maybe it was riding your bike.  All of these skills seemed
impossible at one point until somebody showed you how to do them,
and then you kept on trying until it worked for you.

The reason why babies and kids are such great learners is because
they have a clean slate.  They focus, they believe in themselves,
and they keep on trying no matter what.  They might keep on
falling down, but if they fall down 11 times they get up 12 and
then are walking.

Successful people are the same way when it comes to learning.

Successful people know that lifelong learning is the key to their
success, and it’s the one thing that every successful person I’ve
met has in common.

I’m sure that you’re successful, because you’ve made a commitment
to your own learning by being with me on this newsletter, getting
success tips and learning what I can share with you to grow your
business using the Internet.  And by now you’ve seen some of the
amazing results that people just like you are getting every single
day simply by putting these powerful ideas into action.

Tomorrow, I’m going to reveal something brand new.

An incredible resource that will take your success to a whole
entirely new level.

It’s not another book or CD course, it’s something much more
interactive and exciting, and I’m looking forward to sharing it
with you tomorrow.

Look out for an email from me tomorrow titled “More Life Lessons
You Won’t Get In Business School”.  You’re going to love this.

Reach for the top,
-Wally

PS – Being in the company of other successful people really can
increase the success you’re having.  And when you get your
momentum going, success breeds more success… Here’s just some of
the successful people who are using the Internet to grow and be
successful:

Why the Cards won the series

October 31st, 2011. Filed Under: Internet Success. Tags: , , , ,

Late Thursday night I got a text from a friend of mine in Florida
who was watching every moment of the World Series, probably
chewing her fingernails as game 6 started to go later and later.

The Texas Rangers were pulling away and it wasn’t looking good for
the Cardinals.  She’s a big Cardinals fan and was going to be
really bummed out if they didn’t win.

A few more innings went on and amazingly, against all odds, the
Cards would pull off a huge play right when they needed it.  Back
against the wall, one out away from going home a loser?

No problem, just hit a couple more people into home.

Down by a couple points at the end of the game in extra innings?

No worries, just stay calm and hit a home run to send the series
to game 7.

It was really an incredible game to watch, and I’ll be the first
to admit that I was a bit groggy on Friday after staying up to see
the end.  It was well worth it.

I was reminded though of another baseball team a few years ago
that was closer to home – and how they didn’t pull anything
amazing off.  That team was the Colorado Rockies.

The Rockies of a few years ago and the Cardinals of this year had
a lot in common.  Both had their backs up against the wall, and
barely scraped their way into the playoffs.  Many times as the
postseason went on, each of these teams would find a way to win
against all odds.

But something strange happened on the way to the World Series for
the Rockies…something that the Cardinals didn’t experience.

The Rockies ran out of the most important intangible you can
have.  Momentum.

After winning the pennant and having a record breaking streak of
winning games, the Rockies had to sit out for a longer time than
they had in months, and by the time they played the Boston Red
Sox, they got slaughtered.  They didn’t even win a game.

It wasn’t even close.  And they haven’t been nearly as good since.

Contrast that to the Cardinals, who kept their momentum, and kept
on winning until bringing it all home on Friday night.

It’s a huge difference, and an important one.  Keeping your
momentum, whether you’re talking about writing a book, completing
a huge project, sticking with an exercise program, or running your
business – is probably the most important thing you can do to
ensure your long term success.

Because regardless, life is going to throw you a curveball.  But
if you’re not out there swinging, then you’re not in the game, and
your chances of winning are zero.

Keeping your momentum and staying in the game long enough to win -
that’s the most important thing you can do.

Members of my “top secret” Internet Sales Success coaching group

allow them to create momentum, sustain success, and overcome any

The Hidden Truth Behind Occupy Wall Street

October 21st, 2011. Filed Under: Special Occasion, entrepreneurship. Tags: , , ,

There’s been a lot of talk in the news lately about Occupy Wall
Street, the protest movement that suddenly went global last
weekend, and it’s turning out to be a pretty big deal in some
circles.

Count me as one of the few people who weren’t very surprised to
hear of this type of protest coming down the pike.  After all,
when you look back in history, any time that unemployment stays
pretty high for a long time, people get antsy and start to try and
create their own solutions.

Look at the “Bonus Army” protests that were setup in the 1930s -
really just a bunch of tent cities that were setup outside of the
capital in Washington DC by unemployed veterans until our own army
had to come down and clean out the mess.  Sounds a lot like today
actually.

The part that the media isn’t telling you though is the most
important part though, and that’s what I wanted to talk with you
about today.

The truth behind Occupy Wall Street, the Tea Party, and all the
other uproar that is going on is that it is simply part of the
changing of the seasons.  Not the seasons of Summer into Autumn,
but the seasons of history.  Some time ago there was a book
written about this that I highly recommend you check out called
the Fourth Turning”.

In that book, it explains how American history goes through 4
seasons that continue to repeat themselves and have done so
throughout our entire history…and even though it was written
over 10 years ago, it basically predicted all that is happening now.

We’re simply going through another turning of the page in history,
and you have a big choice on your hands.  You can either ignore
it, fight it, and hope it goes away…or you can embrace the
changes that are taking place and look to benefit from them.

If you think about it, even during the depths of the Great
Depression people who were successful.  Life didn’t just stop, and
it’s not just stopping right now…just as in those times, there
are choices to be made on whether you want to win or lose.  And
the winners of any era have a common theme – they understand
what’s happening around them and they take appropriate action.

From the uprisings going on in the Arab Spring, to these new
uprisings, and the ones happening all over – the common
denominator is that there is a turning of the pages of history and
it’s all driven by the conversation happening online.  Those who
lead the conversation for the positive are the ones who will
create the changes in the world.

And those people are you.  The entrepreneur.  The entrepreneur who
creates value, and uses the Internet to get his message out to the
most people and who can get his life changing products and
services into the hands of the most people are the ones who are
really going to be the winners here.

So you have a choice.  Are you going to be the entrepreneur who
makes these changes happen, and prosper along the way?  Or are you
going to sit back and let the tides of history go along wherever
they go and hope that you are part of the conversation?

In my book 21 Ways To Create A Sales Stampede On The Internet
you’ll find ways to ensure that you not only are an integral part
of the turning point that we are experiencing in history, but
you’ll ensure that you create a ton of prosperity along the way.

Claim your spot in history today:

itself…history resembles itself.” And those are words to live
by, because if we know how the path went as it got us here, then

create your own path forward:

Three more feet

October 18th, 2011. Filed Under: Internet Business Tips, Internet Success. Tags: , , ,

Back in the old days when I was growing up, I went to high school up
in the mountains of Idaho Springs, Colorado, an old town that was
left over from the gold rush days of the late 1800s.

We would hear a lot of old stories and legends from those times.

There were those who made it big, and those who traveled around the
world to get there – and ended up with nothing.

And then there were those fortunate few who were not lucky in the
sense of easily striking it rich, but fortunate in another way…
they had the right attitude.

There was an old story that used to be told about a guy who came to
Idaho Springs and started digging.  And almost immediately after he
stuck a claim on the side of the mountain he was bringing in the
gold.  Lots and lots of it too.

Enough to pay off his startup costs, and his loans from friends and
family.

As you can imagine, he’d taken a big risk and was really excited to
begin getting his just reward.

Then something happened.

The gold ran out.

He kept on drilling and drilling and drilling – doing what he knew
to work well, but he kept coming up empty.  Watching his early
fortune start to go away and feeling like all his hard work was
going up in smoke, he finally gave up.

He declared the mine a bust.

He sold all his equipment and went home, thinking he was a failure.

He told anyone who would listen that the gold rush was a big waste
of time.  A scam.

That’s not all.  Then something else happened.

Another guy came along and bought all the used equipment, and bought
the mining claim.

The second guy was smart about it though.  Along with buying the
equipment and the rights to dig in the mountain, he brought along
an expert geologist to look at the situation.

The geologist came along and said, “Whoever was here before you
didn’t understand fault lines.  Look at this line here.
If my calculations are correct, you can begin drilling and
you’ll hit a gold vein in three more feet.”

The second guy started to dig.

And guess what.  He pulled millions and millions of dollars in gold
right out of the mountain just like that.

The first guy had given up, convinced that the gold rush was a
complete scam.  The second guy went to his grave knowing that the
gold rush was the opportunity of a lifetime.

What was the difference between the two men?

The difference wasn’t that they didn’t try hard.

They both did.

The difference wasn’t that they didn’t believe in themselves.

They both did.

The difference wasn’t even that they weren’t there for the
opportunity.

They were both in the right place and the right time.

The difference was that the second guy sought out expert guidance,
and expert opinions from someone who had been there and done that…
and the first guy didn’t.  That’s it.

Maybe you’ve heard the same thing about using the Internet to grow
your business.  These days the words “Internet Marketing” mean
“Scam” to a lot of people, so I understand if you’re like the first
guy thinking that there’s no way you can build your business with the
Internet.

When you’re caught in that mindset though, you’re like the first guy.

All around you there is gold in them hills, except without the right
guidance you’re going to miss out on the chance of a lifetime.

On the other hand, to the fortunate few who step up and seek expert
guidance from experts who’ve been there and done that, there’s gold
all around for the taking.

That’s why I started the Internet Sales Success coaching program
just for you:
http://wallythewebguy.com/coaching/

There’s no reason to be like the first guy, when you’re three feet
away from your own personal gold rush.  Instead, you can step up
and be part of the fortunate few.

Until next time,
-Wally

not for everyone.  Make sure you step up immediately before the

It happened four years ago…

October 12th, 2011. Filed Under: Internet Marketing. Tags: , ,

I’m sitting here in the home office this morning, reminiscing on
something big that happened about four years ago.

Four years ago I was in a state of constant fight or flight.

I was working full time as an IT guy at an accounting firm, and also
building a secret business on the side doing websites and internet
marketing for a select few people.  Working 60, 70, sometimes 80
hours a week, I no longer had time for friends, family, or fun.

It was miserable.

Something had to give.

And I didn’t know it, but something big was about to happen.

A friend of mine had let me know about an event that I should check
out.  An event where business owners all over the world were flying
to be in a single room with a guy who had mastered the skill of
using the Internet to create income.

Something called Internet Marketing.

Let me admit to you where my head was at this time.

I was scared.  I was caught between two worlds.  The world of the
paycheck, and the world of the entrepreneur.  I wanted the latter,
but my fear and lack of faith was holding me back in the land of
the steady paycheck.

Maybe you’ve felt this way before.  Caught between two worlds.

There’s only so long that you can go along that way.  Internally
tied up into knots.

At some point, you have to make a decision and go one way or another.

For me, I made a leap of faith and paid some big bucks to fly across
the country to be in a room full of people who I’d never met before…
and I was still scared to death.

Scared of not being good enough to be there.  Scared of not being
able to pay for the travel.  Scared of failure.

Have you been there before?

Of course you have.  We all have.

The good news is that the story has a happy ending, and you’re
part of it.

Here’s the rest of the story.

-Wally

PS – The one who takes action is favored by the goddess of good luck.
Taking a leap of faith and investing in your own development will

We have lost a Giant

October 7th, 2011. Filed Under: entrepreneurship. Tags: ,

Two days ago in the afternoon I logged into Facebook and started seeing
a bunch of variations on the same message:  Steve Jobs, the founder of
Apple, had passed away.

Immediately I went to Apple.com and saw his picture and started to well
up with tears.

I really couldn’t believe what I was seeing and feeling – here was the
passing away of the most important business leader in the last 30
years and I was looking at his picture on a computer screen, crying.

And that’s when it struck me.

Steve Jobs’ greatest accomplishment was in pushing everyone around
him to the next level so that the computers, the machines that we
interact with – become a tool in the service of human creativity.

Because of Steve Jobs’ vision, we can talk face to face on a small
screen held in our hand – or carry a library’s worth of information
on a small slab the size of a pad of paper – and somehow the
experience feels organic and real…the fact that there’s a machine
called a computer involved doesn’t even register.

That’s the real legacy of this amazing man, who has created the world
we live in, and is very much responsible for you and I communicating
and sharing over this medium – heart to heart – even though we
physically may never meet in person.

To extend human creativity and give us more tools to create from
beauty and passion, that is what Steve Jobs gave to us, and I hope
you’ll join me in being forever grateful to this amazing man for
having the guts to push himself and those around him to fulfill
the vision that he had for computers, for experience, and for
humanity.

Thanks Steve.

-Wally

PS – “You have to trust in something.  Your gut.  Destiny.  Life.
Karma.  Whatever.  Because believing that the dots will connect down
the road will give you the confidence to follow your heart, even when
it leads you off the well worn path.  And that will make all the
difference.” – Steve Jobs

Snakes and crickets

October 1st, 2011. Filed Under: Business Tips. Tags: ,

It’s another beautiful autumn day here in Colorado, and this time of
year is amazing because the leaves begin to change color into gold
and the sky becomes an amazing, clear shade of dark blue.

A few days ago my wife Melinda called me up and said that she had
discovered a potentially explosive situation.  Literally.

Yours truly had left town to do some business travel and had
accidentally forgotten to turn the gas off on the grill.

For multiple days the gas was slowly  leaking into the grill, and
luckily nobody walked by smoking a cigar or anything.

The other thing she noticed when she discovered this explosion
waiting to happen, was that the grill cover had been left on the
ground.  Again, somebody (ahem) had forgotten to finish putting
their toys away.

This is the good part though.

Underneath the grill cover she found 3 snakes coiled up and a bunch
of crickets.

The snakes were staying warm under the cover, and had all the food
they needed to get fat before the winter comes.

It happens again and again, and it never ceases to amaze me.

Nature always shows us the answers, and they are usually simple and
profound.

Snakes and crickets.  Snakes needed to eat, and they found their
ideal place to stay safe – the same place where the crickets were
hanging out.

It’s the same in your business.

Right now, your buyers are busy looking for you and wanting to buy
from you.  They’re ready to surround you just like the crickets
surrounded the snakes, and feed your business.

But if you’ve not placed yourself in the right spot, then you’ll be
out of luck.

In Chapters 1, 2, and 3 of 21 Ways To Create A Sales Stampede On The
Internet
I cover how you can be like the snakes under the grill
cover, and place yourself in the perfect spot, with no competition
whatsoever.

When you are strugging to make a sale or having a slow period in
your business, that’s an indicator that you’re not applying these
strategies.

When you do, you’ll find that you’ve taken the most powerful action
you can to setup yourself for long term success.

Grab your copy here:

PS – In eastern cultures, the snake is not looked down upon in the
same way that we do in the west.  In fact, the snake is often looked
upon as a source of wisdom and guidance.  Nature always shows us
the way…

What this famous teenager’s 13th birthday means for you

September 27th, 2011. Filed Under: SEO, Search Engine Optimization. Tags: , ,

Today is a famous teenager’s 13th birthday.  And like any good
teenager, this teenager has been busy disrupting things.

You might have heard of this teenager.  This teenager’s name
is Google.

It used to be that you could put a targeted ad in the Yellow Pages
and then your phone would start ringing off the hook.  Long time
readers of this newsletter know those days are gone, as Google the
disruptive teenager has taken the flow of business away from
traditional marketing outlets like the Yellow Pages for almost a
decade now.

Maybe you don’t believe me.

Well, last time I checked even the Yellow Pages is trying to sell
you something other than an ad in the phone book.

Combine this with the disruptive factors of social media and
there’s a good chance that your business is literally invisible on
the Internet.

And being invisible in today’s ADD world means that you’re in
trouble.

People are onto the next big thing before you know it, averaging
under 7 seconds per website visit and whatever they’re searching
for, they’re likely finding your competitors right in the sweet
spot known as page one of Google.

This means that people who should be coming to your website, and
through your doors are going over to the other guys’ place
instead.  That’s bad news.

Luckily there’s a solution to this.

For the last couple years, I’ve had a select group of individuals
who’ve worked with me to go from invisible on the Internet to
squatting on top of page 1 of Google.

One business literally went from ready to shut the doors and over
a hundred thousand dollars in debt to selling so much that they
have their products on back order in less than 12 months.  That is
the power of being on page 1.

It can literally change everything for you.

There are a lot of secrets to getting a business to page 1 -
especially if you’re in a competitive market.   A lot of these
secrets I’ve been sharing with you over the years…and the good
news is you’re in the right place, because I’m happy to share
these secrets in an even more in depth fashion with a select few
action takers who are ready to start crushing their competition.

In fact, you can simply go to Google right now and start buying
AdWords… and rank on top of your competition in the same time it
takes to read this email.  That’s not always a bad plan, however
it is definitely the “quick fix” to a long term problem.

The smarter way to go is to take a longer term approach so that you
rank number 1 day in and day out, in perpetuity.

It’s actually an opportunity that exists for most businesses, and
you can determine pretty quickly if you’re able to rank on number
one within a couple days.

Here’s how you can determine before the end of this week if you
can start squatting on top of Google and crush your competition:
http://wallythewebguy.com/services/search-engine-optimization.html

It’s not for everyone, only those who are ready and willing to get
a steady flow of new visitors and sales from their website.

Hopefully that’s you today, and every day.

Here’s to getting found and crushing it,
-Wally

PS – “We had just rolled out a great new site design, and we were
really excited about all the traffic that was going to come and
see it.  Only there was one problem – Google had stopped indexing
us!  We had tried to search optimize our site, and Google thought
we were spammers.

We tried for months and couldn’t figure out what was happening to
our site.  Luckily, we knew there was one guy out there who could
help us.  Our good buddy Jason Waldron – “Wally the Web Guy”.  We
gave him a call. After following his recommendations, Google was
indexing us within a week, the traffic started flowing in.  We
haven’t looked back since!”
