The Endless Parade

February 28th, 2012. Filed Under: Direct Marketing, Internet Marketing. Tags: , , ,

Just got off the phone with a new customer who had a problem that I
see all the time.  I thought I’d share a piece of our conversation
with you because I know it will benefit you too.

He called me and had a common problem.

He’d just spent a ton of dough on a fancy website, but nobody was
coming to it and he wasn’t making any profit.  In fact, from where he
was sitting, the website was more of a money pit than anything else.

He called me to get things on the right track.

Here’s what I told him.

Oftentimes new website owners spend a ton of their hard earned cash
on a new website, only to forget the most important and next step.

That is…

…to send traffic to it.

It’s one thing to sit there and hope.  But as they say, “You can
[bleep] in one hand, and hope in the other” and see which fills up
first.

The point is that you always have to be taking action.

And it pays to realize that “Marketing is an endless parade.  And,
most people don’t know about you.”

Now there’s something to think about.  Because in business, we
spend a lot of time talking to others – giving them our
“elevator speech” and telling them what we do for people, and
just generally telling our story.  Fishing for clients, for
customers, for sales.

But the truth is, that even if you network 24/7 – the majority
of the 6 billion plus people on the globe – and the portion of
them who want to buy from you – simply don’t know you exist.

So the truth is that you can never quit marketing.  Even when you
want to, because you’ve never actually “told your story to
everyone”.

And the other truth is that if you aren’t bringing people to you,
so that you can tell them your story, you aren’t really marketing.

That’s where this trick to get more traffic comes in:

PS -  Here is why the internet is so powerful.  Only by connecting
yourself with enough other people, and serving them – can you
truly get whatever you want out of life.  Sometimes you’ll find
these folks across town and sometimes across the globe, but they
need to know who you are, and what you do.  And they need to
trust and like you.  But first they need to know about you:

How to get off the hamster wheel

February 25th, 2012. Filed Under: Internet Success, entrepreneurship. Tags: , ,

As you read this, the family and I are hopping on a plane and
headed out to Portland, Oregon to meet up with some of our
extended family and relatives.

We’ve never all met in Portland together, so it will be really
exciting to explore a new place and have new experiences
together.

When you combine everyone, there will be five children all under
the age of 4 years old, so needless to say it will be
interesting.

As entrepreneurs, one of the challenges we face is to structure
our business so that it doesn’t take over our entire life.

After all, there’s always more work to be done.

There is marketing to do.  There are sales to make.  There is
customer service, fulfillment, and even taxes this time of year.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

A lot of times you probably feel like you’re a hamster stuck
running on a wheel…unable to get off.

One of the ways to help get off the hamster wheel and get more done
is to seek leverage in everything you do.  That means not being
shy about hiring experts to help you where you’re stuck.

Another thing you can do is to educate yourself so that you can
stay ahead of the game, get more done, and use your resources
wisely.

And finally, there’s the simple practice of simply being in the
moment.  Sometimes this one can be the hardest of all.  But
often it’s the most important one of all.

Taking a day or two, turning off the news, the television, the
internet and just being in the real world… this can be the
biggest thing you can do to clear out your mind and realise
what’s really important.

Take a moment, and take a few minutes, and instead of watching
the news or television, take a walk or get out into the world.

Then, have a look at this video I’ve created for you and find
out how you can benefit from this one secret that I traveled
far and wide to discover:

Until next time,

Online sales are down – fact or myth

February 21st, 2012. Filed Under: Internet Marketing. Tags: ,

Once in awhile I’ll hear from people who think that online
sales are down.  For some reason, they think that online
sales in general are going the way of the dinosaur.

Reason is, they say, is that since the economy is in
rough shape, online sales must be in rough shape too.

They are sooooo wrong!

Here’s some good news for those selling on the Internet
and those thinking about selling on the Internet.

For the ninth consecutive quarter, the fourth quarter of 2011
achieved strong year-over-year growth in online retail spending.
The recent report, which was released by the leading online
market researcher comScore, indicated a 14% increase in
sales compared to the fourth quarter in 2010.

Online retailers raked in an impressive $49.7 billion in sales.
Also, during the fourth quarter, an all-time high 52% of online
orders included free shipping. Online shoppers spent a record
breaking $161.5 billion in 2011.

One of my observations has always been that the number one
concern online shoppers have is shipping.  After all, why
do you think Amazon.com has free shipping on everything?

The increase in free shipping offered by online retailers
shows that people are concerned about shipping.

It’s easy to be smart about it – use shipping as a
marketing tool.

While brick and mortar stores are suffering, ecommerce
websites are enjoying ever increasing sales.

You can enjoy ever increasing sales too.
This video reveals how.

Google, the Tortise, and the Hare

February 13th, 2012. Filed Under: SEO, Search Engine Optimization. Tags: , , ,

When you’re driving traffic to your website, there’s
another one of Aesop’s fables to keep in mind.

It’s the story of the tortise and the hare.

Remember when the hare was boasting that he was
so much faster than the tortise, but ended up losing
the race anyway?

As a website owner, whether you like it or not, you
have a relationship with Google.  And there is a race
to get more traffic traffic.

You can be like the hare, and buy Google Adwords and
other PPC programs.  And if you have absolutely no
traffic whatsoever, that’s a good thing to do.

But remember the moral of the story…

“Slow and steady wins the race.”

Search Engine Optimization, which eventually puts
you on top of Google above your competition, while
driving massive amounts of “free” traffic to you…
that is the tortise.  That’s how you win the race.

Click here to find out how you can win the race…

benefit from massive amounts of this free traffic
dripping future buyers into your bank account
forever.  But first, make sure you review this.

The parable of the wind and the sun

February 8th, 2012. Filed Under: SEO, Search Engine Optimization, Traffic Driving. Tags: , , ,

The other day I was thinking about how complicated we like to
make things, when often they are very simple.

Take, for instance, marketing.  It’s just story telling.

We’ve been doing this for ten thousand years, sitting around
campfires, telling stories, and passing down information for
many generations.  That’s how we are hard wired to communicate,
and no matter what medium or channel you’re using, it’s all
about story telling.

One of the most successful story tellers of all time was a guy
named Aesop.

He had a parable about the Wind and the Sun.

It went like this…

“The Wind and the Sun were disputing which was the stronger.

Suddenly they saw a traveller coming down the road, and the
Sun said: ‘I see a way to decide our dispute. Whichever of us
can cause that traveller to take off his cloak shall be regarded
as the stronger. You begin.’

So the Sun retired behind a cloud, and the Wind began to blow
as hard as it could upon the traveller. But the harder he blew
the more closely did the traveller wrap his cloak round him,
till at last the Wind had to give up in despair.

Then the Sun came out and shone in all his glory upon the
traveller, who soon found it too hot to walk with his
cloak on.”

Notice how the wind put a bunch of energy into forcing the
issue, while the Sun simply played to his strengths and did
what he did best.  That’s the way to achieve massive success.

Do what you already do best…and work to attract the rest.

One of the best ways to automatically attract your perfect
market is to invest in proven, professional search engine
optimization.

In short order, you can get an almost endless stream of qualified
leads coming directly to your door, with almost no effort on
your part.
