Feel the love or feel the fear
September 29th, 2010. Filed Under: Business. Tags: Business, Wally
This past weekend I spent a few days at Ken McArthur’s jvAlert event
in Denver, Colorado.
It was a really cool conference with tons of amazing speakers, and a
great group of amazing people filled the room. Some folks had flown
in from as far away as California, and others had literally driven
less than 5 minutes from down the road.
There were some common threads among the group though. First and
foremost, it was a place to make connections. With over 130 people
at this event, connections were being made like crazy.
One of the coolest things I experienced was that more often than not,
when I was about to introduce myself to somebody, they’d beat me to
the punch and stick out their hand first. I’m not the shyest guy,
but this was a whole new level of friendliness.
Second, it was a place to share and learn from each other.
At one point in the event, the speaker asked those who’ve made over
a “milyun” dollars to raise their hands. A number of hands raised.
Then he asked for those who’ve lost “milyuns” of dollars to raise
their hands.
Guess what?
A bunch of the hands that were raised were the same. It’s like a
good friend of mine said to me – to be super successful, you have
to get over your fear and take serious risk. Which means sometimes
you’ll fail. And fear of failure is what holds us back every time.
But the key is to get over your fear and do it.
Finally, it was a place to share the love.
What I mean by that, is that whenever you walk into a room full of
people who are trying to succeed, it’s super important to do what
you can to be true to yourself, and share what you can to help them.
One lady who I had lunch with was just starting out marketing her
business on the internet. She was giddy as a school girl at the
prospects of taking her knowledge, and sharing it with people all
over the world who she knows she can help. And because her heart
is in the right place, she’ll probably do it.
Another guy had been retired for a few years when he decided to
begin coaching customers on how to position themselves in the
market. He saw that businesses and individuals out there are
having a really hard time separating themselves from the pack,
and decided to help.
That’s the key. When you start from a place of fear, you’re
always thinking “how can I get as much money from this person
as possible”. When you start from a place of love, you’re
thinking “how ca n I help this person by providing more value
as much as possible”.
The more value you provide over and above the monetary exchange
of your deal, the more love you’ve given.
It’s a huge concept, and super important!
And coming from my own experience, and the growth experiences
of my most successful customers – the only side of that coin
to be on – is the side of love.
So always be thinking of more ways to serve your customers,
and come from a place of love…and most of the other stuff
will just take care of itself.
Until next time,
-Wally

Successful Sales Without Selling Your Soul
September 21st, 2010. Filed Under: Business, Internet Success, Success Stories. Tags: Business, Successful Sales, Wally, Web Stars
It was an early morning day last February, the mist was still hovering
over the mountains outside Phoenix, Arizona, and I was wiping the
sleep out of my eyes.
Standing with my luggage, waiting in the early morning to share a ride
back to the airport with my friend George, I was contemplating all we
had learned over the last few days…and just enjoying the quiet calm
before the Monday airport travel experience began.
George showed up on time at 5:30am to pick me up in his rented
Corolla, and despite our sleepiness we began a brief and exciting
conversation.
I asked George what he had been up to lately. He replied that though
he’d been in business for years, that he was feeling pulled in a new
direction. More of a teaching and mentoring role than he’d been
playing before. He talked of giving more value to the world while
still maintaining his current level of success.
I asked how he was going to do such a thing.
He replied, “I’m going to write a book about Successful Sales
Without Selling Your Soul”.
I was intrigued. A lot of us have this image of a successful salesman
that is right out of a used car parking lot. And we all have
experienced somebody trying to sell us something that we don’t want.
And because of the negative emotion attached to that experience, we
often get hung up on that image in our mind of the salesman – somebody
who has made a “deal with the devil” to be successful.
However, as George explains in his book, “Successful Sales Without
Selling Your Soul”, there’s no reason to make a deal with the devil.
In fact, you’re doing yourself and your custome rs a huge disservice
if you’re not aligning your soul, your purpose, and their purpose,
in the sales process.
You can get more on this process here:
http://georgewchilds.com/book.html
There’s a lot to the whole process, and as we talked in the car that
day, I was excited when he asked me help him get the word out with
his new website.
As a business person, the key to our lives is the word “person”.
We’re human at the end of the day, and if we lose that in the process
of making a few dollars, then we’ve lost the entire purpose to begin
with. That’s just a tidbit of the insight that George talks about in
his book.
I encourage you to sign up for George’s newsletter here:

Your Soul”.

Is Google Instant a Game Changer?

Is Google Instant a Game Changer?
If you’ve been to Google recently, you’ve probably noticed
that in the last few days they’ve updated a few things, so that
the search engine results show up below the input box…
as you type.
For instance, let’s say you were going to search for a
blackberry.
You put in a “b”. You’ll get results underneath for Best
Buy, etc. Then you type your “l” and you get stuff like
“Blockbuster” in the search engine results. Then when
you have “bla” typed in, you’ll see Blackberry starting
to show up.
There’s a lot of concern and chatter out there on the
internet about this.
Especially in the small business community.
Notice that all the businesses that were showing up in
the Google instant box were large, well know corporations.
Is this Google putting the squeeze on the little guy?
My take on this is simple, and here’s what it means
for you:
The basics still apply. If you create high quality,
current, relevant content – then you’re going
to rank well.
==========================================
When you’re creating online content right now, you
want to be sure that you’re writing for the most
traffic. Here’s how, with Longtail Keyword Research,
guaranteed to skyrocket traffic to your website.
==========================================
Your headlines and your title tags are going to be
more important.
They’ve always been super important anyway, but it’s
going to be even more imperative that you’re writing
for your audience, in such a way that you’re provi ding
current relevant content.
What is going to be really important is your keyword
research. When you’re a small fish in a big pond,
then you probably aren’t going to be found.
However, when you’re a big fish in a small pond, it’s
easy to be seen over and over again. And that’s what
you become when you do the proper keyword research.
All of a sudden you’re rising to the top of the search
engine results page, like magic.
After you’ve done your keyword research you’re going to
want to ensure that your site is structured so that the
search engines are seeing what you are putting out there,
and that they are adding it to their database – so that
you get found over and over again.
And of course, it’s super important to create more and
more valuable content – as much as possible .
Over the last couple of months, I’ve been focused on
creating some amazing results by driving targeted long
tail keyword traffic for a select group of clients.
These folks didn’t bat an eye when Google changed the
search page with their Instant upgrade…because they were
already well positioned and will continue to be.
They are able to focus on doing what they do best, while
their website sales system creates leads and generates
sales for them automatically, whether they are in the
office, at the golf course, or even asleep.
It’s a wonderful thing.
When you’re ready to join them, the fastest way to get
on the path to big time results is through a turnkey
traffic driving strategy with proven results, available here.
You’ll be well positioned for anything Google can throw
at you, and light years ahead of your competition.

P.S. – Many people I’ve talked to over the last couple
months have felt like they’re in a crowded marketplace
and aren’t sure how to rise above the fray.
A simple solution is to just outrank and out pull the
competition, even if you’re doing the exact same marketing.

John Denver karaoke sparks Thai Killing Spree
September 2nd, 2010. Filed Under: Business Tips. Tags: Country Roads, John Denver, Thai Killing Spree, Thailand
I awoke early this morning to find out that one of my favorite
singers had supposedly caused a killing spree.
The headline read: “John Denver karaoke sparks Thai Killing Spree”.
It seems that in Thailand, John Denver’s “Country Roads” is an
immensely popular tune, and is very popular to sing again and
again in the karaoke parties and bars. People who are on the
other side of the world, far far away from the mountains of
West Virginia are singing their hearts out to a tune sung by
a happy go lucky guy from middle America.
However one guy in Thailand did not share the same feelings
for John Denver, and finally had enough.
He warned his neighbors that if they kept singing their karaoke
– John Denver songs in particular – he would come down and blow
their heads off.
Hearing another lofty round of “Country Roads, take me home…”
he made good on the promise, walking down to his neighbors
house, and started shooting. The rest is pretty gruesome.
There’s something to be learned from this strange and
unfortunate act. Its about the power of passion.
And how it can cut both ways.
Passion is super important to instill in your customers.
And something that can be used again and again in your marketing.
It’s vitally important to instill passion in your customers.
And in fact, you don’t really want customers.
You want rabid, raving fans. A worldwide fan base of rabid
followers, who will sing your tune to others, even when faced
with threats.
John Denver in the 1970s had all of these.
He was a cheesy down home guy with a positive, unwavering joy,
singing songs about nature and love.
Here’s a guy who was screaming “far out” long after it was cool
to do so. And here’s a guy who was so loved by his fans that
he ended up selling out arena after arena, eventually even
having his own weekly show, singing with the Muppets, and
becoming a movie star.
And it all started with his own passion, playing his few songs
with a guitar.
By sharing this passion and joy with others, he became world
famous and got to share his talents with people worldwide, becoming
quite wealthy in the process.
But just because you create a huge group of stark raving mad fans,
doesn’t mean that you don’t create some enemies along the way.
For every person who I know that loves John Denver, I know
another who can’t stand the guy.
Including the crazy guy in Thailand.
To be successful, and instill passion in your fans, you have to
make a few enemies along the way.
In fact, if you haven’t made a few people mad along the way, you
probably aren’t instilling passion in anybody at all.
So be brave, and be yourself, and bring your passion to the table.
Don’t be afraid to break a couple eggs along the way to
making an omelet.
And when you do make the occasional enemy, make sure you stand
up, pat yourself on the back, and do what John Denver would do.
Stand up and yell “far out!”.
Until next time,
-Wally
