Oops…I goofed up, but there’s good news

Friday, April 24th, 2009

Yesterday I sent out a newsletter about the 4 practical things
you can do to improve your website – starting right now.
If you missed it, you can check it out here.

It got some outstanding reviews, and one of Wally’s Web Stars
told me that he spent the day forwarding it on to his colleagues
and fellow website owners, to make sure they didn’t miss out on
the valuable info.

I must have been drinking too much coffee though, because I
totally messed up and sent out a wrong link to my limited time
FREE traffic driving strategy session.

The corrected link is here:
http://www.wallythewebguy.com/specials/get-more-traffic.html

Update: This offer has closed….stay tuned for more like it in the near future.

The bad news is, I doubt I’ll be offering this ever again,
because the last time I did – well, let’s just say that I was
super busy for months afterward.

And that’s a GOOD thing.  But it could be a bummer if you miss
out this time around.

The really good news is that if you are a website owner of any
kind, there’s something in here that will benefit you.  You get
a full report of where your current website traffic is coming
from, and strategies that you can begin to implement RIGHT AWAY
to get more.

In fact, once you know this valuable information, you’ll
probably get so excited that you begin to take action and start
pounding the pavement…um, the web…and moving on the
actionable steps that you’ll be provided with.

Really it’s a big winner.  I’ll show you how to get more
traffic.  And more traffic means more sales.  And a lot of the
strategies are simpler than you might think.  You just need
the right roadmap.

Most importantly, you get peace of mind knowing that you’re
taking the right action to kick some butt going into the summer.

Here’s that link again.  To increase your traffic, click here:

Update: This offer has closed….stay tuned for more like it in the near future.

If this is for you, be sure to act fast.  It’s only available
for the first 3 people who sign up…and after that it’s gone.

Have a great weekend,
-Wally

P.S. – A BIG Congratulations to the newest of Wally’s Web Stars,

4 practical things you can do to improve your website

Thursday, April 23rd, 2009

Last night I was on a coaching call with the Zen Master of the
Internet, Matt Furey, and he said something powerful that
slapped me up side the head, and reminded me of something very,
very important.  When the Zen master speaks, I listen.  Today
I’d like you to do the same.

He reminded us that “Marketing is an endless parade.  And, most
people don’t know about you.”

Now there’s something to think about.  Because in business, we
spend a lot of time talking to others – giving them our
“elevator speech” and telling them what we do for people, and
just generally telling our story.  Fishing for clients, for
customers, for sales.

But the truth is, that even if you network 24/7 – the majority
of the 6 billion plus people on the globe – and the portion of
them who want to buy from you – simply don’t know you exist.

Well, that is a problem!  So there’s two things here – one, is
that you can never quit marketing.  Even when you want to,
because you’ve already “told your story to everyone”.  Two, is
that you’ve never told your story to everyone!

That is why the internet is so powerful.  Only by connecting
yourself with enough other people, and serving them – can you
truly get whatever you want out of life.  Sometimes you’ll find
these folks across town and sometimes across the globe, but they
need to know who you are, and what you do.  And they need to
trust and like you.

The first step is to connect.  And that’s where your website
comes in.

Today I wanted to share 4 practical things you can do to improve
your website, so that you can connect with as many people as
possible.

But before I do, a word of warning.  Don’t just read these and
toss them aside.  If you do that, it won’t matter.  Think about
how you’d like to use the web to increase your own business -
and then take action.  Without action, it’s all just talk.  And
as my elementary school gym teacher used to say, “talk is cheap”.

4 Practical Things You Can Do to Improve Your Website

1. Add a blog

Seems like everyone has a blog these days.  There’s a reason.

You can build trust and a worldwide following – people who rely
on YOU – simply by writing down your thoughts.  You can double
the power of your email newsletter by adding it to your blog.

Instead of an email that might have sat in somebody’s inbox for
ages, it’s on the web being read and re-read.  Find out more
here
.

2. Get found by the search engines

If nobody knows you exist, you have problems. You need to ensure
your site is found and that your content is found.  The easiest
way to do this is to begin by ensuring that the search engines
find you, and that when they do, they can find the stuff you put
on the web.  Simple, but a HUGE first step.  Details here.

3. Get more traffic to your website

A couple weeks ago I told you about the importance of numbers.

Here’s a simple math equation for the web:
More traffic = More sales.

It really is that simple.  But unfortunately a lot of folks have
these great websites, but no traffic at all.  That’s lame.

Here’s the quickest, easiest, (and for the next 72 hours…free)
way to remedy this:

Update: This offer is closed.  Be sure to stay tuned for a new one soon.

4. Capture contact information

Capturing somebody’s information, and keeping them informed
about what you’re up to, and what you’re offering is the most
powerful thing you can do.  I heard one guy call it “follow up
’till they’re dead”.  Kinda funny, but it’s super important.

If you’re just beginning on the web, or you’ve been online for
years, it’s the same.  You gotta figure out who is interested
in what you’re offering.

No matter where you are in the process, the biggest room of all
is the room for improvement.  But to get results requires
action.  Take action on one of these four steps, and if I can
help you get there quicker, be sure to get in touch.

Reach for the top,
-Wally

P.S. — Wally, if blogging is so important, where is your blog?
It’s on it’s way.  Here’s one that I’ve been working on in
the meantime, for the newest of Wally’s Web Stars:

weight in gold:

The only numbers that matter

Thursday, April 9th, 2009

I just finished reading a fascinating article about a few old
guys – some over 100 years old, who have been investing on Wall
Street since 1928.  They’re still investing today.

The article was full of wisdom, and I wanted to share some of it
with you.

The first thing that struck me was that these guys are really
focused.  You go to their office, and there is no CNBC blaring.
No distraction from the task at hand.  The next thing, is that
they don’t spend too much time on the computer.  Again, no
distractions.

Across the board, these old guys were set on staying focused on
what they wanted to achieve.  No distractions from the outside
world, the media, and slick salespeople.

You might know how the game is played today.  A team of
management guys – really salespeople for a company’s stock -
walks into a room and gives a great presentation.   Then the
mutual fund guys pick up the stock, and everyone goes and eats
lobster.  On our dime.

That’s not really how these old guys work.  After all, they’re
wise.  They’ve stuck around this long, so they know a thing or
two that us younger folks might not.  They don’t meet with any
management of a company, at least not at first.

They sit in their offices, and they take a long, hard look at
the only thing that matters – the numbers.

Business is really remarkably simple, and that’s why I love it.
Are you making more money than you’re spending?  Great, you’re a
success in business.

Now if you’re a website owner, there are some numbers that you
need to be focused on.  The first one, is how many visitors
you’re getting.  It’s really a numbers game, and the more
visitors you have, the more chances for a sale.  So you need to
know that number.

The next one is how long people are staying.  If everyone is
leaving after 7 seconds, you’re going to want to improve some
things to get that number fixed.  So you need to know that
number.

Another number you’ll want to know is where your website traffic
is coming from.  How much comes from the search engines, how
much comes from referrals, how much comes direct to you?  You
need to know your numbers.

Really, your business is your numbers.  These old guys who were
investing in the 1920s, and are still investing today, they get
it.  If your numbers aren’t right, the business isn’t right.

The good news is that there’s a very simple and powerful way to
know these numbers.  Over the past year I’ve refined and tweaked
a system to ensure that you get the most out of your website,
and can break your numbers down into a powerful report that
takes less than 10 minutes a month to digest.

It saves you time and gives you control.  It’s called the Visual
Statistics Package, and you can get it here
.

The Visual Statistics Package works with any website, and within
a month you’re getting everything that you can need to measure,
apply, and improve your numbers.

Once you improve your website numbers, you’ll improve the only
number that matters in business – the number of dollars in your
wallet.

Here’s that link again.

Make sure you sign up and take charge of your numbers today.  A
year from now you’ll look back on it as one of the best
investments you’ve ever made.

your marketing is the most valuable thing you can have.  Give me

days.  You just have to have patience.”

This is no joke

Wednesday, April 1st, 2009

In the last two days I’ve had lunch with a group of three highly
successful businesspeople, then breakfast with another group of
highly successful folks, and finally a short hour ago -  a lucky
encounter with yet another guy who is thriving and growing
during these “tough and difficult” times.

Each conversation had a moment just like this…where I’d ask
“how’s business for you?”

Answer was always the same.

“Business is great.  We’re growing while our competition sits on
the sideline complaining.  It’s all about having the right
mindset.”

I couldn’t have been happier to hear it.  Three times in less
than 24 hours makes it a pattern.   A good pattern indeed.

Times like these are a blessing, because they help us realize
what really works and what really doesn’t.  Hear me or not, but
if you don’t get this right, the joke is on you:

It really is all about your mindset.

Without having your head in the right place, tough times can eat
you and your business alive.

I just heard of one company who had been around building homes
in a mountain community for over 30 years.  Gone.  They weren’t
prepared, which means their head wasn’t in the right place.

Where are your thoughts?   Are you focusing on delivering more
value, being more efficient, and serving your customers at a
higher level?

Or are you worried about not making it through the next month?

How you answer is the key to your success.

It’s up to you.  It’s up to me.  It’s up to each of us.

As a favorite saying of mine goes, “tough times never last, but
tough people do”.

In my Quick Start CD I spend a good portion teaching you the
most important secret to using your mind.  And it isn’t what you
know, because knowledge can only get you so far.

You can get a copy here
.

After learning those secrets, you’ll have a new proven way to
take your message to the web, and to ensure that every effort
you make in your website investment comes back to you 7-fold.

The time is now to get tough, get going, and grow.  I only have
a few copies of this left, so if you’re committed to growth,
grab one here.

Your partner in success,
-Wally

P.S. – Not only must you have the right mindset, you have to
instill that confidence in your customers.  Here’s how to ensure
your website is giving your customers the right mindset about
you
.

to think.” – Ayn Rand
