The 3 M’s of marketing success

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Last Friday afternoon I was driving down to Denver to help a
good friend start his first business.  Instead of listening to
the radio, I had a Dan Kennedy CD playing in the car, and
learned more about marketing in a matter of 45 minutes than I
had in many years of business school.

Imagine for a moment, being caught up in stop and go traffic
headed southbound into Denver.  Then imagine me swerving the car
occasionally, because I’m so excited about what I’m hearing that
I’m taking notes on an iPhone and emailing myself every few
minutes.

Yes, I was texting and driving.

What got me so excited was how Dan was able to boil down the
essentials of marketing into something that each of us can use
in our business.  Something tangible, something practical, and
something that you can put into practice as soon as this
afternoon – if you’re game.

In fact, these 3 M’s are something of a “holy trinity” so to
speak.   Once you’re able to put the three of them together,
you’re going to skyrocket your business.  And if your three M’s
aren’t in alignment, I’m willing to bet you’re missing out on a
ton of customers.

As you take a look at these, think of how well you know your
business.  And how well you know your customers.  Most
importantly, how you can use these to improve.

Here they are, the 3 M’s to marketing success.

Right MESSAGE
Right MARKET
Right MEDIA

It almost seems a little too simplistic.  Match the right
message, with the right people, using the right medium.

Miss any of these, and you’re toast.

Wrong message to the right people?  Not gonna work.

Saying the right thing to the right people, but using the wrong
way to reach them?  Nope.

But really, the 3 M’s are all there is to it.  Like all wisdom,
it seems simple on the surface but there are many layers.

Marketing is a journey, and a constant experiment.  You can
always do better, and that’s why it is important to stay open
minded and have fun with it.  And of course it’s important to
find those willing to help you along the way.

Maybe you know your message and your market, but you want to
understand the web as media.  If that’s you, check out my quick
start CD where you’ll learn the secrets of creating a money
generating website that 99% of the website designers out there
won’t tell you.  It’s available here.

Or maybe you’ve had a website for some time, but it’s not
performing as a sales asset, like it should.  In that case,
check out your website critique here.

No matter what, remember the 3 M’s and begin applying them to
your business.  And have fun with it.

Your partner on the journey,
-Wally

P.S. — In a couple weeks, I’ll be revealing a new website sales
system that is a union of the 3 M’s and the perfect example of
how to automate your follow up process.  Stay tuned.

P.P.S. – All great accomplishments start with a simple idea.
Here’s how you can take your idea to the web in no time.

My little experiment with a brain-boosting program

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

If you’ve spoken with me in the last year or so, you probably
already know that I’ve become a bit of a Dr. Dharma fan.
Okay, that’s an understatement.  I’m a huge fan.

The work he’s done over the last 20 years in the area of brain
health — and actually helping people reverse memory loss — has
been nothing short of phenomenal.

Well, he’s finally put all those years of research and clinical
practice into a complete brain rejuvenating program that — I kid
you not — actually helps you grow new brain cells to sharpen
your memory and reverse your brain’s aging process.

I was skeptical as hell when I first heard this, so of course I
had to give it a try.  And after an experience the other day,
I’m a believer.

The other morning, I was following a unique exercise called
“Keertun Kreeya” and kinda feeling a bit self conscious.  I was
home alone, but felt self conscious anyway.  You know, trying
something new and out of my comfort zone.

But I pushed through and just sat there and followed the
directions and just felt what was happening.

What happened was a pleasant surprise.  I felt as if I had woken
up from a deep slumber, and rewired my brain to think clearly.

You know that feeling when you are all stuffed up and you can’t
breathe, and then you blow your nose?  Everything feels better,
and you can breathe and think clearly again.  It was like that,
except with my mind.

Or like when you get back from a long vacation, and all that
mental clutter is just gone – and you can actually think
straight.  It’s easier to focus and go about the day feeling
calm and relaxed.

Here’s the really cool thing.  Dr. Dharma has just released a
new product called Dead Brain Cells Don’t Lie: 97 Ways To Stamp
Out Memory Loss, Slow Brain Aging, and Prevent Alzheimer’s.

You’ll not only find the book easy-to-read and his suggestions
easy to implement… There’s also a never-before-released DVD
revealing Dr. Dharma’s Secret Sequence to Grow New Brain Cells
Medical Exercise to improve the power of your brain — in only 12
minutes a day.

I got my copy of the program just the other day and am already
benefitting.  It was too cool not to pass along your way.

I hope you’ll join me in getting a razor sharp brain for the
rest of your life (and who doesn’t want that?).

It sure beats watching the news,
-Wally

Is no news good news?

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

A long time ago when I used to work in tech support, I was
having a late night conversation with the janitor at the
accounting firm where I used to work.

We were discussing the politics of the day, and just generally
trying to solve all the world’s problems over a cup of coffee.

Mind you, this was a cup of 8pm coffee – there was a long night
ahead of both of us.  He, cleaning floors and toilets.  Me,
maintaining a computer system.

Looking back, what sticks in my mind is a question he asked me,
because I still don’t know the right answer to it.

He asked, “so what’s your solution to all these problems?”

I answered, “go skiing more often, enjoy the fresh air.”

And he replied, “Oh, the Ostrich solution.  Bury your head in the sand.”

I’ve had a couple of people tell me that by giving up the news,
that’s exactly what I’m doing.

Not sure, myself.  After all, like I suspected, I’ve still been
hearing about what’s going on in the world.

For instance, I hear that the stock market is at a level that it
hasn’t been since Billy Clint was smoking cigars in the oval
office.

Rather than bury my head in the sand, what I’ve been doing with
my extra time is going deeper into my study as a
businessperson.

With all the socialism being thrown around out there, I think it
might be high time for each of us to do the same.

Time to get back to basics.  For starters, if you’ve never read
Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand, it’s probably time.  (Warning: It’s
a long book, so if you can’t handle it, check out her videos on
YouTube)

One thing that I discovered this past week, is that the more
aggressive you are with your marketing during a downturn, the
better off you are in the long run.  Those who choose to be
creative during the storm are the ones who come out on top.

Look at Kraft foods.  They created Miracle Whip in 1931.  That
year, the stock market was having a year just like it is now.
Crummy.

But they created a fancy version of mayonnaise, and everyone
could put it on their cabbage and other cheap foods.  And dang
if it isn’t in a bunch of refrigerators this very day.

And how about Kellogg’s.  During the 1930s, they maintained
their marketing spending while Post cereals did not.  And then
dominated the next 50 years.

So if you’re serious about growing your business through the
downturn, turn off the propaganda for a few days, grab some
wisdom from the ancients of the last century, and get the ideas
flowing.

Then to turn that idea into gold, I’ll help you dominate
your market for the next 50 years.  Click here for a
preview of how we’ll take that idea and turn it into some cashola
.

Sound good?

Reach for the top,
