Just go with what works best

I’m breaking the rules and working on a Sunday today, because
Melinda and I are about to leave on a plane to visit chilly
Fairbanks, Alaska, where her sister lives.  We’ve been looking
forward to this trip for a long time, because her sister has a
team of sled dogs that they will attach us to, and we’ll be
pulled through the frozen tundra from cabin to cabin.

A couple of years ago, her sister sent me a really cool present
for Christmas.  It was an ulu knife.

If you have ever seen one of these, they’re really cool.  The
ulu knife has been used for ages, by the Alaskan Eskimos.  It is
made by taking a piece of bone and connecting it with a curved
piece of metal so that you can hold the entire knife in a
clenched fist, and slice up a fish in no time flat.

The last time I was in Alaska, I saw a demonstration where an
Eskimo ulu knife took a large salmon and filleted the thing in
about 60 seconds flat.  No stopping or standing, just some fat
juicy fillets ready for the eating after using the tool of
choice.

When I was given the ulu knife, I didn’t use it at first.  It
just sat there in my kitchen, and I continued using the more
traditional knife that you’re probably familiar with.  Until one
day I had a craving for a cucumber, and decided to give the
Eskimo method a try.  (I didn’t have a salmon handy,
unfortunately)

This thing was amazing.  I was chopping this cucumber into
slices in no time.  And then it was off to eat a salad.

I’ve been using it ever since.  I’ve used it to chop vegetables,
and I’ve even used it to chop up a steak when I’m making stir
fry.  What a great knife.

What makes it great is that it just works.  And it’s hard to
question what just works best.

The knife had to sit there on the shelf for awhile before I used
it.  And when I finally did, I was wondering why I had taken so
long to get around to giving it a try.  After all, the thing
just works.

And so it is in other areas of life.  Sometimes the tools are
just staring you in the face, and for whatever reason, you
haven’t picked them up and started chopping.  That’s okay,
because when you’re ready, all you have to do is reach up and
grab them.

Here’s something you can reach for.  I’ve put together a CD that
does for the web what the ulu knife does for chopping — cut
through the chum and bones, and get you to what works.

Once I picked up that ulu knife, I realized how easy things
could be.  Take the opportunity to do the same for your business
now.

Sticking with what works,
-Wally

How to make lots of money during a recession

December 12th, 2008. Filed Under: Business, Internet Marketing. Tags: , , ,

When I was in college, one of my roommates told me about how his
dad went from an average self-employed person to running a
really profitable business, all in a short couple of years.

The years were the early 90s, and there was a big, scary
recession going on.  People were closing their pocket books,
pinching their pennies, and the new president was going to be a
Democrat.  Sound familiar?

My roomate’s dad was running a cash register paper company at
the time, something that a lot of people need, but the average
joe doesn’t really think about.

What made this guy a huge success in these scary times was
following a formula that makes you a success no matter what, but
is actually a BIGGER advantage in the down times.

The formula is simple:  Create a lot of value.  Then deliver it.

This guy was able to take a pretty simple thing – getting the
cash registers of the world to continue running – and do a
better job than everyone else.  He created a better system of
delivery, which created a ton of value – and then, most
important – he made it happen!

Contrast this with the Big 3 Automobile Beggars.  They’re lining
up like pigs at a government trough because they can’t create a
good car to save their life, and now nobody wants to buy one.
They’re not following the formula.

I want to see you follow the formula and succeed, even as the
noise about the recession gets louder and louder.  The best
thing you can do is make sure that you can deliver your message
to your intended audience, so that you can continue to serve
them.  If you’re doing that, you’ll be like my roomate’s dad,
thriving during a recession and beyond.

It’s up to you to grab life by the horns, and the time may as
well be now.  Keep creating that value, and make sure you
deliver it.

The best way to deliver a ton of value to more people is to
follow the most important lesson you could ever know.

This lesson is revealed in the first 2 minutes of my special
money generating CD, which you can get here.

Stick with the formula,
-Wally

What matters doesn’t change

I was having thanksgiving dinner with some family and friends
the other day, and we were all really starting to enjoy the
fried turkey that we had just fried up in the backyard.

Have you ever done this?

You take a giant metal canister, fill it with pounds – POUNDS -
of peanut oil, heat it up to the point of almost catching on
fire, and then drop a giant turkey into it.

At that point, we had a serious overflow of boiling oil onto the
cement patio in the backyard.  Let me just say I’m glad it
wasn’t my house we were cleaning up at later on.

So there we were, digging into some fried turkey.  And the
conversation turned to the news.

It occurred to me, then and there, that we weren’t really
feeding ourselves.  We were feeding our addiction.

Have you ever noticed that there isn’t any good or useful news
on?  And that if you take a break from watching the news for a
week, you still find out the important stuff from other people?

But the news ticks you off.  And you become addicted to it.
I’ll be the first to admit, I get addicted to it too.

Alas, on the day of thanks, I had to excuse myself to go find a
place on the couch to sleep.  No more news talk for this guy.

It reminded me of a saying that I heard a little while back:
“What matters doesn’t change and what changes doesn’t matter.”

I refocused on the family around me, and the amazing meal of
fried turkey, and how good it was that we were all enjoying our
time together.

I think it’s important that we focus on the things that matter,
and not on the things that change.  Everything changes, but love
of family and giving thanks will always be important, no matter
what.

In my new CD, found here, I cut through the B.S. and cover the things that really matter when it
comes to building a money generating website.

In fact, I cover at least 12 money generating lessons that will
have you ready to take your idea to the web in no time flat.

I’ve also included a ton of bonuses to help you get up and
running faster than ever.

And if you already own a website, you’ll benefit even more from
what I have for you.

Because in business, as in life, what matters doesn’t change,
and what changes doesn’t matter.

The secrets are revealed here.

Feeling thankful,
-Wally
