What I learned from Willy Wonka and Albert Einstein

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

It’s been a busy week here at the website design plant.  I’ve
felt like one of Willy Wonka’s oompa loompas – all orange in the
face just getting stuff done!

I thought I’d take a moment to share one of my favorite quotes of
all time, from the smart guy with the crazy hair – Mr. Einstein
himself:

“Imagination is more important than knowledge”

Here in the chocolate factory, oops, in the web design factory,
I have that quote hanging on the wall where I can see it all the
time.  Why?

Because it is a reminder of what it means to live a rewarding,
creative life.

It’s also at the heart of what I am privledged to do for a living
- take your imagination, add my imagination, mix it in a beaker -
and then create some serious results for you!

After working with me, some of my clients are literal mad
scientists – with the beaker exploding everywhere and it’s
practically raining money!

If you’re ready for the beaker to start exploding for YOU, let’s
start by applying Einstein’s lesson, and use our imagination by
visualizing a money making web strategy for you.

If you are interested in a FREE imagining session – then sign-up
here and get in line.  Unlike Willy Wonka’s factory, you don’t
need a golden ticket to visit
.  Yet.

Spots are filling up fast.

ticket.

The Real Truth About the Phone Book

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Summer is in the air here in Fort Collins, and this morning
the flowers were blooming like crazy in my front yard.  Don’t
forget to take time to stop and smell the flowers – I know I’m
happy I did.

As I was walking in my flower garden, I thought about a funny
story that happened a couple weeks ago, that I want to share
with you.

I was hanging out in my weekly networking meeting, where we each
get a chance to stand up and give a 60 second commercial about
our business.

When my turn came, I stood up and asked a simple question to the
people in attendance:

“How many people in the last week have used a search engine to
find information?”

Hands shot up all across the room.  In fact, 14 out of 15 people
raised their hand.

Next, I asked, “How many people have used a phone book to find
something in the last week?”

Only one person raised their hand.  It was the same person who
hadn’t used a search engine.

Hmmm.

I think there’s a lesson to be learned here.

A universal law, from Isaac Newton himself, said that “an object
in motion tends to remain in motion unless an external force is
applied to it.”

In our case, it could be “a person already paying to be in the
phone book tends to keep paying for the phone book unless he
gets smart and changes his ways.”

Lucky for you, you’re a smart cookie.  Otherwise, you wouldn’t be
reading this.

I think the lesson here is obvious, but let me spell it out just
in case.  You are wasting your money if you are in the phone
book.  Instead, you should be investing that in your website.

And if you already have a website, you need to invest it in being
found higher up on the search engines.

Blunt?

Yeah, a little bit.  But I hate to see people wasting
money.  I mean, things are getting more expensive these days.
Why waste a dime on something that doesn’t work?

Top 3 reasons a website is better than the phone book:

1. It is customizeable.  When somebody visits you website,
you can design it in such a way so that they are compelled
to take an action based on what would benefit your sales
process.

2. A website is measurable.  When somebody visits your website,
you can track the path they take in a very detailed manner,
to ensure your website design is doing what you want it to.

Most importantly, you can use this information to ensure your
Return on Investment grows higher and higher.

Can your phone book do this?

3. A phone book is a localized resource, used for things
like propping up children on a high chair, making an effective
doorstop, and taking up space under counters.  The truth is,
most people don’t use the phone book — they’re going to
search for you on the web anyway.

Don’t believe me?  Conduct your own poll.  I’d love to hear
the results.

If you’re ready to leave the phone book behind for good, and
start swimming in the sea of prosperity, schedule your free
consultation NOW.

P.S. — Did you know that Google was named after “Googol” -
a number that approaches infinity?
This isn’t a coincidence – the possibilities for making money on
the web are truly infinite!
Stay tuned for more on this in the near future.

Lessons learned from an old salesman

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

As I write this, I am sitting in a local coffee shop, with some
sort of light rock playing on the radio.  I’m waiting for a
friend of mine to show up, so we can chat about some business.

When I am being nomadic like this, as I am today, running around
with a laptop in my backpack, I often get asked if I am a
student.

Sometimes I answer no, because technically, I’m not going to
school.  But sometimes for kicks, I answer yes, because in a big
way I am a student — a student of LIFE.

Being such a student, one of my favorite things to do is to
follow the time-honored tradition of learning from my elders. I
love to sit down with an experienced business person, and start
asking questions, taking mental notes.

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to sit down with a friend’s
dad, who has been involved in many types of sales.

He told me a story once of how he “worked the system” to get in
front of the right people, and made a $60k sale in one day.

Now, mind you, he didn’t do anything immoral.  He was just
creative and made sure that he found the person who had the need,
the authority, and the money to be a successful sale.

I am guessing you know some people in your market who fit this
description as well.

I asked my friend’s dad what one of the keys to his success was.
And here it is:  Follow up, Follow up, Follow up.

As you know, just because you’re offering a great product or
service, it doesn’t mean someone is ready to purchase from you.
It’s nothing personal, it just might not be the right time.

So the key to staying at the top of their mind is follow up,
follow up, follow up.  That way, when the time is right – BAM -
you get the sale you deserve.

The most effective way to follow up with your clients and make
more sales is to leverage your skills through an email
newsletter, such as the one you are reading right now.

When you have a marketing plan creating top of mind awareness,
you want to make sure people are continually driven to find you.

You need to follow up!

If you are ready to leverage your skills further to continually
attract and extend your client base, you’ll want to schedule a
free consultation now.  For the price of an ad in the phone book,
you can start making sales proactively instead of waiting for
somebody to call.

Here’s how.

Graduation Day

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

As I was driving into town the other day, I was reminded
that it is graduation time.

First it was the balloons on the trees
then it was the extra cars parked outside the neighbors house
and of course the sounds of celebration and laughter
as a milestone is achieved.

I really love graduation time.

For myself it always brings back memories and the feeling of hope
and optimism that I had when I first stepped out of the world
of high school into the “quote” real world, as I have heard it
called.

When I graduated from my high school I lived in a small town.

The local paper came and took pictures of us before we walked
down the aisle to the pomp and circumstance.

We listened to the obligatory address by the valedictorian
and the salutatorian and looked around at everyone’s smiling
faces, relieved and excited to be moving onto the next step
of their life.

A group of friends and I got together and held a giant graduation
party and much to my surprise people who I barely even knew
showed up, wishing me well and handing me checks!

This may have been the best part of graduation :)

Who doesn’t like being handed a check?

I now look back on that time with a big smile for it was the
first time that I had experienced the feeling of receiving so much from so many people at once.

Have you had this feeling?

We live in an abundant world.  Imagine what a great feeling it
would be if you found yourself in the same situation today
with multiple people sending you checks on an almost daily basis.

You have this possibility within your reach.  A little action on your part and you can increase your abundance and live a richer, more rewarding life.

Reach out and move towards a more rewarding life, and schedule
a free consultation with me, to find out how you can magentize
money towards you, by pulling it in through the web.

abundance in your life.
