“FAITH and FEAR make poor bedfellows.
Where one is found, the other cannot exist.”
- Napoleon Hill
Lately I’ve been talking to some people who are caught up in a
time of fear. For some, it is fear of failure. For others, it
is fear of loss. And for others, it is fear of being
uncomfortable.
We all have been there before. I know I certainly have.
With all this talk of recession, one thing that can drive fear
into the heart of a small business owner is fear of parting with
their money.
I know that at times, I have sat there, fists clenched, trying to
hold onto every red cent possible – and go the cheap route.
Every time I have done this, I’ve gotten what I paid for.
Let me tell you a secret I’ve recently learned. It is about
Faith.
It’s about your energy, and it’s about your expectation. What
I’m talking about is this: Think inside yourself, and the last
time you were going to make a big purchase. What were you
thinking about?
Did you have a fearful mental image, of your money being sucked
away from you? Or did you have a faithful image, seeing your
money as a slave, working for you, coming back ten fold?
How you energize, and view your purchases, can have a deep impact
on what they do for you. This is true in business, and in life.
Here is a question to ponder:
Do you view a purchase as a loss, or do you view it as an
investment?
The answer to this reveals a lot about where you will go in life.
Personally, when I viewed purchases as losses, I never got
anywhere. Then one day I changed how I thought about a purchase
- and instead of focusing on the money going out, I focused on
how the purchase would bring more in.
I had faith in my judgment, faith in the investment I was making.
Rather than seeing the expensive hammer, I saw myself driving some nails! Next thing you know, I had built a house.
Now, I’m talking in metaphors. But I think you understand where
I’m coming from.
So the next time you are faced with a big purchase, make sure it
is an investment. Have faith in yourself! Feel the money coming
back to you already. I assure you, you’ll be glad you did.
